P.J. Candle Co. – Where Luxury Meets Laughs
At P.J. Candle Co., we believe candles should do two things really well: smell amazing and make you smile.
What started as a hobby quickly turned into a full-blown passion. I was tired of candles that gave me headaches, smelled like everyone else's, and felt like an afterthought. I wanted fragrances I’d actually want in my home. Scents I’d proudly gift to my friends and family. So I got to work.
Before I knew it, my friends jumped in — tossing out wild name ideas, brainstorming scent combos, and sharing stories about what certain fragrances reminded them of. What started as a fun way to make my friends laugh turned into something bigger: creating candles that feel personal. Candles that feel special. Candles that bring a little extra joy into everyday life.
And yeah, the names might be a bit... extra. (Okay, they're definitely extra.) But behind the sass is a real commitment to quality. Every candle is hand-poured using a wax I absolutely love for its smooth, luxurious finish and beautiful scent throw. I’ve worked hard to find eco-friendly, low-allergen ingredients because I believe in creating products that are as thoughtful as they are fun.
Because at P.J. Candle Co. — this is where the drama… burns slow.
The name? It’s just me. P.J. is what my family and oldest friends have always called me, and it felt right to keep this brand just as personal as the candles themselves.
The whole thing was actually inspired by watching my husband follow his own dreams. He opened his own studio, El Gallo Catrin Barber Studio, where he builds community and delivers an experience that’s not just about a fresh cut but about quality and authenticity. His success — and the way he connects with his clients — gave me the push to create something similar in my own way. For me, it’s all about giving people a candle experience that’s unique, personal, and totally worth it.
More importantly, P.J. Candle Co. is built on the belief that everyone deserves to feel welcome, to laugh a little, and to enjoy something made with care. As a cis gay man married to an incredible husband of Hispanic descent, I know how important it is to honor and respect every story, every background, and every person who stops by.
So whether you're here for the scents, the names, or the vibe (hopefully all three), I'm so glad you found us.

When we first fired things up, we started with high-quality soy wax—clean-burning, dependable, a real one. But we always knew she was just the first chapter.
Now? Almost every candle is made with our luxe Coconut Apricot & Soy Wax blend. It’s smoother, sexier, and throws fragrance like nobody’s business. Only a few of our original soy-only babes are still around, so if you spot one, consider it vintage.
We’ll keep the updates coming, but just know: whatever you light, it’s crafted to burn beautifully. 🔥✨

What’s an “Audition” at P.J. Candle Co.?
At P.J. Candle Co., an Audition is when a fragrance gets its first shot at the spotlight. We source scent samples from our suppliers and put them through their paces—testing everything from color and wick combos to fragrance throw (both hot and cold). Because let’s be honest: plenty of scents are good, but we’re on the hunt for great.
Some Auditions are full of potential but don’t quite make the final cut. Others blow us away and go on to become full-sized stars. And sometimes, we’ve already chosen our winners—we just have a few of their tester-size candles left backstage.
Whether we’re still experimenting or clearing the studio for the next big thing, these Audition candles are all perfectly good, high-quality burns. They help us cover costs, make room for fresh drama, and give you a sneak peek at what’s happening behind the curtain.
